About Hanka

"Even though I didn't graduate from an art school, I currently make a living as a painter and lecturer of art courses. Painting and drawing have been a great passion for me since I was a child, and I completely found myself in sketching. Sketching suits me because of its speed and I find it a great way to map the world around me. I've always enjoyed trying to capture the beauty and the transience of the current moment – even in painting – and sketching is perfect for that.

In addition, I see sketching as a great way to loosen up one's artistic expression because one does not have to be afraid to experiment in a sketchbook. And although I am still at the beginning in this direction, in the year that I have been participating in the activities of USK Prague, I am beginning to perceive a certain shift: improving and simplifying my drawing, expanding my repertoire of techniques and materials, etc.

Sketchbooks started accompanying me on every step of my way. When I draw in a sketchbook, it's similar to writing notes in a diary for me. But such a picture diary is much more descriptive than any words written on paper, and every page of it can relive the emotions and mood I felt at the moment when I drew the given picture. So, for me, sketchbooks are actually something like cans full of emotions and experiences, and when I scroll through them, I feel incredible happiness and joy. I hope that during our meeting I will be able to share at least part of this joy with you."

About Sketchbook Tours

Sketchbook Tours is a series of events designed to stimulate learning from each other. The project is part of our mission to bring educational content to our members.

During each Sketchbook Tour, one urban sketcher will take us through their sketchbooks, offering us the unique opportunity to not only learn about their favorite mediums and techniques, but also understand the thoughts and design decisions behind their work.

We will hear the story of their artistic development, discover how they learn and what inspires them. And we will get to interact with them directly through questions and discussions in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment.
