Vltava III.: Žluté lázně - Podolská vodárna

Let’s continue our Vltava sketch‑walk series with three stops along the river, each with 30 minutes of sketching. All 3 spots are connected to water in their own way. 

Stop 1 – Žluté lázně

A well‑known riverside recreation area with beaches, sports zones and summer cafés. It has been a popular leisure spot since the early 20th century and still keeps its relaxed, holiday‑like atmosphere. From here there’s also a direct view of the new Dvorecký most, which connects Podolí and Zlíchov and has become a notable addition to Prague’s river crossings.

Stop 2 – Plavecký stadion Podolí

The Podolí swimming stadium, opened in 1965, is one of Prague’s most distinctive examples of post‑war architecture. Its concrete roof forms a clear wave shape, inspired by the movement of water, and the building remains an important sports landmark in the city.

Stop 3 – Podolská vodárna

The Podolí waterworks building, completed in 1929, is a major part of Prague’s water supply system. Its monumental façade and classical architectural style make it one of the most recognizable structures along this part of the Vltava.

For New Members

Our events are open to everyone who enjoys drawing and urban sketching. There are no fees, just bring your own sketchbook and media you like. There is no formal tuition given but you can certainly get inspired by others. All levels are welcome!
