Urban Sketching: Vyšehrad

Let’s meet and sketch together at Vyšehrad, one of the most historically significant places in Prague. According to legend, it was the seat of the earliest Czech rulers, and although the current appearance comes mainly from later periods, the site has long been tied to the beginnings of Czech history. Over the centuries it became a fortified baroque citadel, a symbolic national space, and a place connected with many cultural figures.
The grounds offer a wide range of sketching subjects — the ramparts with views over the Vltava, the gates and fortification walls, the park areas, and the silhouettes of the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul. It’s a location where history, landscape and architecture meet in a very open, walkable space.
