Urban Sketching: Průmyslový palác

Let’s meet for an urban sketching session at Průmyslový palác, which has recently reopened after a major renovation. This weekend’s open days offer a chance to see the restored building up close and explore one of Prague’s best-known exhibition landmarks.

Originally built for the Jubilee Exhibition of 1891, Průmyslový palác became a symbol of the city’s industrial and technological ambitions. After the left wing was destroyed by fire in 2008, the building underwent a long process of restoration and reconstruction. With the complex now complete again, this is an interesting moment to capture both its historic architecture and its renewed appearance.

During the session, we’ll have the opportunity to sketch the building’s exterior as well as its newly reopened interiors, exploring different views, details and perspectives. A good opportunity to document a familiar Prague landmark at the beginning of a new chapter.

IMPORTANT:

Please, use only pencils, pens, markers etc. if you decide to sketch indoors (no easel and no loose materials such as bottled inks, jars of water, etc.).

For New Members

Our events are open to everyone who enjoys drawing and urban sketching. There are no fees, just bring your own sketchbook and media you like. There is no formal tuition given but you can certainly get inspired by others. All levels are welcome!

If you have urban sketching questions or suggestions, please bring them up with the group admins.
